Surf Camp!

This past weekend, March 22nd - March 24th a big group of us went to Surf Camp Australia. This was located two hours away in Gerroa, New South Wales at Seven Mile Beach. Learning the techniques of surfing was a blast! Actually surfing was also a blast, but a lot harder than I thought. :) I got up twice for only a second each time. Some of my friends were really good at it. I want to continue because it was a lot of fun and a really good workout. Here are some pictures of the group and the beach we were on.
After two days of surfing (about 6.5 hours in total) we wanted a picture with the boards we had to use. The beginner foam boards are a lot larger and thicker (to help with balancing) than fiber glass professional ones.
My friend Ani and I on the beach before surfing in our wetsuits. :)

There was about 100 people this past weekend learning how to surf, so we were split into two groups and then from the 50 split into about 5 smaller groups. This is my group and our instructors', Jack (far left in the rainbow swim trunks), and Ky (on the ground in the white surf shirt).

Rip Curl is the brand where this surf camp gets all of their boards and equipment from. :)

The rooms held seven people so here are my roomies for the weekend (plus Ani who is taking the picture). (back row from left to right) Ryan, Tucker, Connor and (front row left to right) Steve and Nick.

To get to the ocean/Seven Mile Beach we walked passed this lake that was so pretty! The sunset was gorgeous off of it!

Ani and I!

passed the lake there was a small bridge we had to go under and there was a lot of fun colored graffiti. I thought it was cool!

Along with being at the beach with warm ocean water there was a mountain in the background. With the sunset it all looked so pretty!

These are girls that go to Macquarie with me and who also came through the same program as me (Arcadia). Ani, me, Courtney, Molly, Dani, and Caitlyn.

On the other side of the beach there were houses - how would you like to have this as your back yard? :)

Blue Mountains

Me and about 20 other friends that I have made here in Australia headed 2 hours away to see the gorgeous Blue Mountains! we were there for about 7 hours and still didn't see half the things we could have. it was still a successful day trip to see nature!

Beginning of the day heading down the first path to the waterfall.

first thing we see down the path. GORGEOUS!

The sky was clear/the day was beautiful!

The Three Sisters - The story of the three sisters is that there were three men and in the neighboring village there were three sisters who fell in love with the three men, and the men fell back. The problem was that marriage between separate tribes was forbidden and a huge battle broke out between the two villages. An elder wanted to keep the sisters safe so he turned them to stone with all intention to turn them back after the battle. The elder was killed by the end of the battle and no one else was able to turn the sisters back, so here they sit. That is the old Aboriginal story of what these three stone mountains are and how they came to be.

All my friends who came with the Globalinks Program (I came in the Arcadia Program)

This spot is off "Echo Point" and was the most amazing view ever!
